I was part of a military family for nearly 30 years and had 11 schools before I was 13, at which point I went to an all-girls boarding school for six years. I have lived in various countries, including Australia, Canada and Northern Ireland at the height of “The Troubles”.
I am the mother of a teenage girl and I have previously been married. I volunteer with my dog, Ted, for Pets As Therapy, and am constantly amazed by the power and healing presence of an animal interaction.
My dog, Ted, has been working with me since March 2024, and my clients have felt the benefits of his calming, empathic nature.
As part of my training, I had to engage with my own personal therapy journey, and so I can empathise with and understand the trepidation my clients may feel when they cross my physical or virtual threshold. The fear of opening and spilling a chaotic can of worms is a real and valid one - I aim to help you deal with just one worm at a time, safely and honestly.
I have a wealth of lived experiences that have brought me to where I am today and I am passionate about the empowerment, healing and personal growth that the counselling relationship can bring.
My approach to personal therapy is rooted in respect, empathy, compassion, honesty and acceptance, combined with a curious mind. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where my clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, and where they can develop the skills and tools they need to thrive.
Therapy with Ted in the room has been so popular and successful that we are now extending our practice to full-time. If you think you would benefit from the presence of a dog in the counselling room, please contact me.
If you have any questions about my therapy and personal counselling services, please get in touch with me so we can talk.
